Serrated Blade

I am going to get ‘Ka-Bar U.S.M.C. Fighting Knife’ should i get SERRATED or STRAIGHT blade?
After deciding to go with classic Ka Bar instead of that Gerber FM survival thing (pretty sick knife) i now only need to decide between serrated or straight style blade….help? what are the pros and cons of both? I like Campin, Hiking, messing around outside, JROTC, scouts, anything…i origionally thought serrated but i dont know
Doesn’t really make a difference at all. Only difference between straight and serrated is that serrated cuts things like rope, twine, throats, a little quicker then a straight edge since the serrations act like a mini saw but serrated edges are much harder to sharpen and anything you can cut through with a serrated edge you can cut through with a straight edge. Just might take a little more muscle.
Serrations have a tendency to get stuck inside of people (it is a fighting knife) but that’s why they keep the serrated part lower on the blade. No matter how hard you stab someone only the first half of the blade will actually go in them and since they only come partially serrated you have plenty of straight edge to work with. So its just preference really. I like the straight edge personally just because its easier to keep sharp.
Another knife to look at if you like Ka-bar is this,

Basically the classic fighting knife on steroids. Bigger, thicker, tougher. I own a classic ka-bar and the bull dozier and Its better in every aspect save for a little increase in weight but to me that just means more power. The handle is made of a material with better grip, especially when wet and even has a little groove to prevent slipping. The weight of the blade is shifted a little more to the front so it creates more slicing and chopping power, much more rugged and versatile sheath. If you have some 550 chord you can attach it anywhere, belt loop, tactical vest, an arm or leg, on a pack. The sheath also is a friction lock. Meaning that while there is a strap you dont need it. the sheath it self holds the knife in place and all you have to do is grab the handle and pull the knife out saving a little time on the draw. The knife overall just has a better feel while holding or swinging it.
